MILLIRONS’ RECORD AND MANY PR’S PACE HIGHLANDERS AT REGIONALS

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The women's and men's cross country teams recorded great times at the NCAA Southeast Regional this Friday, highlighted by Rachel Millirons' 6K time of 22:18 which is the third fastest in program history. Eight of the nine racers who competed in the race made personal records.

The women raced first on the 6K course, with Millirons' finishing first for the Highlanders with a placement of 107th among some of the southeast region's top talent. Annsley Eckert was the next finisher with a time of 22:44 which was a new personal record and good for fifth on the program's all-time fastest 6K times.

Kayland Bond was the third to finish, not far behind, with a time of 23:01 which is a new personal record as well. Chloe Phillips' time of 23:25 and Savannah Hoff's time of 23:49 rounded out the results on the women's side, and both set personal records for the 6K.

The personal records didn't stop on the women's side, as the men were the next to race. Joe Limo was the top finisher for the men, with a 10K time of 32:46, which was 30 seconds better than his previous 10K record set at last year's regional. Callum Wilson placed 169th with a time of 33:34, setting a personal record of his own.

Juan Cisneros was the next to place with a time of 34:19 with Bus Baker placing right behind him with a time of 34:31. The freshman Baker's time was his personal record, and Cisneros' time was his best time since 2017.

The two teams competed well to end their cross country 2019 season, and now many of the runners will turn their focus to the indoor and outdoor track season starting soon.
