CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following a historic performance at the Live in the Lou Classic last Saturday,
Ethan Gear has been named the Big South Freshman of the Week, the conference announced this afternoon.
Gear etched his name into the Highlanders' record book after posting the fourth fastest 8,000-meter time in the history of Radford's cross country program.
He becomes the second Highlander to earn Freshman of the Week honors (
Charlie Dance). The young Englishman posted a personal best time of 25:21.0 to lead the team.
He has now paced the squad for the last two meets and will look to do the same at the regular season finale next Saturday. Radford will compete in the Roanoke Invite for one final tune up before the Big South Championships at the end of October.
