Magson Debuts Season with First Runner of the Week Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Wednesday afternoon that Sophie Magson has been named Runner of the Week after her performance at the Virginia Tech Invitational last Friday.

Magson was the Highlanders' top finisher in Friday's meet at the Virginia Tech Invitational. The junior placed ninth among all racers with a time of 14:23.7 in the 4k which put her second all-time in Radford's record book.

The weekly award is the third in Magson's career, earning her first Runner of the Week award during the 2022 campaign. Also during that 2022 season, Magson earned a Freshman of the Week nod. The Highlanders have now had at least one cross country runner earn a weekly award in each of the last five seasons.

Radford is currently preparing to hit the road to compete in the Firetower Project this Friday, September 13th. The meet is hosted by Appalachian State in Boone, N.C.
