CROSS COUNTRY CONCLUDES STELLAR SEASON AT NCAA SOUTHEAST REGIONAL

MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Radford men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their seasons Friday afternoon at the NCAA Southeast Regional at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.

The course hosted over 600 student-athletes of 37 men's teams and 40 women's teams from the states of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Kentucky.

"These were great efforts to end a huge season for both our men's and women's teams," head coach Mackenzie Wartenberger pointed out. "Our focus is the Big South Conference championships, and I think that showed in the women's race in particular. But I am still proud of how competitive they have been all year. The men were really impressive, with four of our five guys running their first 10Ks today. They raced with a lot of courage and grit. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this amazing group."

Finishing as the top Highlander for the fourth time this season, Teresa Williamson clocked a 22:01.5 to place 87^th in the field. Katie Hickey was the next to finish with a 22:52.1 pace, which was 143^rd in the meet. Madeline Thomas (23:13.3), Malina Richardson (23:32.6), Courtney Rice (23:35.0) and Courtney Burton (24:20.5) rounded out the RU lineup.

Three Virginia schools finished in the top four of the team standings, led by regional champion William & Mary. The Tribe compiled 74 points to edge 14^th-ranked UVa by eight points. Led by individual winner Annie LeHardy, No. 11 North Carolina took third with 94 points. Virginia Tech was fourth with 97 points. Radford concluded in 29^th out of 38 teams.

In the men's heat, Radford was guided by Chaz Porter, who stopped the watch in 33:57.2 to place 178^th out of 231 runners. Harrison Murn (34:00.4), Matthew Farmer (34:12.5), Brady Guertin (34:31.0) and Jacob Black (35:08.9) also competed for the Highlanders, who tallied 909 points to finish 31^st in the team standings.

No. 28 Virginia won the men's regional title with its 75 points. Four points behind was 16^th-ranked Furman. The Paladins were followed in the standings by North Carolina (87), Eastern Kentucky (107) and NC State (142) to round out the top five.
