BLACKSBURG, Va. – The
Radford men's and women's cross country teams kicked off the 2023 season on Friday night, competing in the Virginia Tech Invitational. Both teams finished in fourth place overall, with a successful night from six individual runners, split evenly between the two groups, placing themselves in the program All-Time Top 10 for their respective distances.
MEN'S RESULTS
Joshua Daggett, a senior, dominated as he earned the top spot in the 6k Men's All-Time Top 10 with a final time of 18:38.6. This time also placed him 9
th overall out of 87 runners.
Sam Sikora beat his personal record and now holds third place in Radford's records with a time of 19:11.1, putting him in 17
th place. And just a few spots behind him,
Maxton Sowers came in 20
th place overall and earned himself the fourth spot on the list, running 19:17.7.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
Sophie Magson,
Chloe Wellings, and
MegAnne Gilmore finished back-to-back-to-back, earning 11
th, 12
th, and 13
th place overall out of 67 runners. The trio now holds the third, fourth, and fifth place in the 4k Women's All-Time Top 10. Magson takes over the fourth spot with a time of 14:58.9. Next up, Wellings holds the fifth spot running 15:00.3. Exactly two seconds after her, Gilmore recorded a time of 15:02.3 to find herself in the sixth position.
Another group consisting of
Abby Seigel (15:19.7),
Kate McLearen (15:19.8),
Rachel Millirons (15:25.6), and
Mackenzie Brownrigg (15:26.4) finished one after another, crossing the line in 17
th, 18
th, 19
th, and 20
th place.

In two weeks, Radford travels to Boone, NC to attend the Covered Bridge Invite on Friday, September 15.
